LE01

This blog is narrative of my experiences , learnings and overall transformation in terms of thought process and ability to execute things as I study in NITIE , Mumbai and learn how Organizations are run .

Experience
As I grappled through myriad complex management subjects , Wednesday arrived rather swiftly with class for subject Principles of Organization and Management .

#Lesson1

First lesson which I learned rather quickly within first 10 minutes of class was that thinking in terms of monetary value of things is essential , but  cannot necessarily be everyone's cup of tea . I couldn't help but remember these lines from Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand -:

"Money is a tool of exchange, which can't exist unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them. Money is the material shape of the principle that men who wish to deal with one another must deal by trade and give value for value. Money is not the tool of the moochers, who claim your product by tears, or of the looters, who take it from you by force. Money is made possible only by the men who produce. Is this what you consider evil?"

Barter system of ancient ages has evolved into exchange enabled by money . Money reminds us that we are owners of our minds and should aim at creating value .
Hence Paisa/Rupaiya are the key to the world.

#Lesson2
Aaj ki Roti Aaj hi Kamaana . ( If you care to consume , then slog for it! )
Self Reliance is the key .

Its not rocket science , it is simple physics - Law of conservation of Energy . It is neither created nor destroyed , it only changes forms . Likewise , hardwork and initiative are prerequisite for success .

#Lesson3
Organizations are the social entities which alter the course of History and are catalysts for revolutions . Google , Facebook , Twitter have provided infinite platform for freedom of speech , a revolution of contemporary times. Organizations are driven by their goals and objectives and an efficient structure helps in achieving them .The way goals are defined play prominent role in success of organization .

  • An activity was which simulates the Corporate Organization right from laying down  the goals to middle management guiding associates in executing them accompanied by regular briefs/assessment by Higher management was done . Building a huge cube tower with blindfold and with one odd hand seems like an overwhelming goal . But through step by step procedure with close analysis of job completed helped in achieving it .

Things to Remember
  • Breakdown the task into subtasks and simply them and attack systematically .
  • Constant Engagement and Encouragement helps in keeping up the momentum .
  • Build the strategy prior to execution and take inputs from all stakeholders .
  • Never allow failures to dampen the motivation levels .Risks can be minimized but cannot be eliminated completely .
  • Structures of Organization should be dynamic and should be able to accommodate changes on empirical basis .
If organizations were simple, we’d have broken the code long ago. So let's explore !

#Lesson4
Socho Seekho Becho : It's Mandi all the way !

Think/Observe -> Learn -> Sell it -> Improvise .... (And the cycle continues)

This world is a huge Mandi . Selling is everyone's business .

Selling which in essence means persuading people to believe in you is inescapable part of life whether it is convincing in job interview  or enticing a kid to have milk .
Mandi Mantra :-
  • Thorough Product knowledge and ability to communicate the qualities to customers effectively.
  • Knowing about customers and projecting features beneficial to them .
  • Observe Client's nature and adjust sales pitch
#Lesson5
  • In Dhanda (read business) , exploit all the resources at your disposal , for instance , Socialmedia is a powerful tool in these times to connect with customers and managing relations with them .
  • Use established structures and conventional wisdom and merge it with innovative techniques.
  • Be relaxed and observe carefully , judge the scenario and make a kill .
Right timing can mean the difference between success and failure .

#Lesson6

Last but most certainly not the least , You should know when to stop !
